Privacy Policy

1. PREAMBLE
1.1 This Privacy Policy governs the collection, use, storage, disclosure, and protection of personal information of users ("User," "Applicant," "you") who access or use the website/platform styled "Oh! So Legal" (the "Platform"), including those who register an account, submit an application/query, or otherwise interact with the Platform.

1.2 This Policy is framed with reference to the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 ("DPDP Act") and the Digital Personal Data Protection Rules, 2025 framed thereunder, and, to the extent applicable, the Information Technology Act, 2000 and the rules framed thereunder.

1.3 This Policy is incorporated by reference into, and forms an integral part of, the Terms and Conditions governing use of the Platform. In the event of any conflict between this Policy and the Terms and Conditions on matters pertaining to data handling, this Policy shall prevail.

1.4 By accessing the Platform, registering an account, or submitting an application, you consent to the collection, processing, storage, and disclosure of your personal information in the manner described in this Policy.

2. INFORMATION WE COLLECT
2.1 Information provided directly by you: (a) where you register an account on the Platform: your name, electronic mail address, and password (stored in encrypted/hashed form) and such other registration details as the Platform may require; (b) where you submit an application/query: the nature of the matter, a description of the issue, any documents voluntarily uploaded by you, and your electronic mail address or WhatsApp number for the purpose of receiving a Response.

2.2 Information collected automatically. The Platform uses Google Analytics to understand usage patterns and improve the Platform. In connection therewith, information such as your IP address, browser type and version, device type, operating system, pages visited, time spent on the Platform, and referring/exit pages may be collected automatically through cookies and similar tracking technologies. This information is processed by Google in accordance with Google's own privacy policy, over which OSL does not exercise control.

2.3 OSL does not knowingly collect any personal information beyond what is set out in this Clause 2, save as may be required in connection with the operation of any third-party service integrated with the Platform (including Google Analytics and, where used, WhatsApp) as disclosed in this Policy.

3. HOW WE USE YOUR INFORMATION
We use the information collected for the following purposes:

(a) to evaluate and respond to applications/queries submitted through the Platform;

(b) to create, authenticate, and manage registered user accounts;

(c) to communicate Responses to Applicants, including, where applicable, via WhatsApp;

(d) to analyse usage of the Platform through Google Analytics, for the purpose of improving the Platform's functionality and content;

(e) subject to Clause 8 below, to send newsletters, updates, or similar communications, where the User has not opted out of the same; and

(f) to comply with applicable law, regulatory requirements, or a valid order of a court, tribunal, or governmental authority.

4. DISCLOSURE AND SHARING OF INFORMATION
4.1 Internal sharing. Information and documents submitted by an Applicant may be accessed and shared internally amongst OSL's founder, Consultants, and researchers, solely for the purpose of evaluating and responding to the Application, as further detailed in the Terms and Conditions.

4.2 Third-party service providers. Your information may be stored, processed, and hosted on servers maintained by third-party service providers engaged by OSL, including for the purposes of website hosting, data storage, analytics (Google Analytics), and communication (including WhatsApp, where used). Such third parties process information in accordance with their own privacy policies and applicable data processing arrangements.

4.3 Cross-border storage and transfer. You acknowledge and consent that the servers on which your information is stored and processed may be located outside India. OSL shall ensure that any such storage or transfer is undertaken in a manner consistent with the DPDP Act and the rules framed thereunder, including any restrictions on transfer of personal data to countries or territories as may be notified by the Central Government from time to time.

4.4 No sale of personal data. OSL does not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to any third party for commercial or marketing purposes.

4.5 Legal disclosure. OSL may disclose information where required to do so by law, or in the good-faith belief that such disclosure is necessary to comply with a legal obligation, protect the rights or safety of OSL, its founder, its Consultants, or any User, or respond to a valid request from a court, tribunal, or governmental or regulatory authority.

5. DATA RETENTION
5.1 Save as may be required otherwise under applicable law, or as may be requested by a User pursuant to Clause 9 below, OSL retains application data, including documents submitted by Applicants, on an indefinite basis, for purposes including record-keeping, continuity of service, and to enable OSL to demonstrate compliance with its obligations under these policies.

5.2 A User may, at any time, request erasure of their personal information in accordance with Clause 9 below, and OSL shall act on such request subject to any legal or regulatory obligation requiring continued retention of such information.

6. COOKIES
6.1 The Platform uses cookies in connection with Google Analytics to collect usage data as described in Clause 2.2. Where the Platform supports registered user accounts, essential/session cookies may also be used to authenticate and maintain a User's logged-in session.

6.2 You may control or disable cookies through your browser settings; however, disabling cookies may affect the functionality of certain features of the Platform, including the ability to remain logged in.

7. REGISTERED USER ACCOUNTS
7.1 Where you register an account on the Platform, you are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account.

7.2 You may request deactivation or deletion of your registered account at any time by writing to OSL at the contact details provided in Clause 11 below, subject to Clause 5 above regarding retention of application data.

8. COMMUNICATIONS AND NEWSLETTERS
8.1 OSL may, from time to time, use the contact information provided by you to send newsletters, updates, or similar communications relating to the Platform and its awareness initiative.

8.2 You may opt out of receiving such communications at any time, either through an unsubscribe mechanism provided in the communication itself or by writing to OSL at the contact details provided in Clause 11 below. Opting out of newsletters shall not affect OSL's ability to send Responses to a submitted Application.

9. YOUR RIGHTS AS A DATA PRINCIPAL
In accordance with the DPDP Act, you have the following rights in relation to your personal information, subject to the conditions and exceptions prescribed under the Act and rules framed thereunder: (a) the right to obtain a summary of the personal information collected and processed by OSL; (b) the right to correction and updating of your personal information; (c) the right to erasure of your personal information, unless retention is necessary for OSL to comply with applicable law; (d) the right to grievance redressal, as set out in Clause 11 below; and (e) the right to nominate another individual to exercise these rights on your behalf, in the event of your death or incapacity, in the manner prescribed under the DPDP Act.

10. CHILDREN'S PRIVACY
The Platform is intended for use only by individuals who are at least 18 (eighteen) years of age. OSL does not knowingly collect personal information from minors. Where OSL becomes aware that personal information has been submitted by a minor, OSL shall take reasonable steps to delete such information.

Any grievance, complaint, or query in relation to this Policy or the handling of your personal information may be addressed to the Grievance Officer above, who shall endeavour to resolve the same within the timelines prescribed under applicable law.

12. SECURITY
OSL adopts reasonable security practices and procedures to protect personal information in its custody from unauthorised access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. However, no method of electronic storage or transmission is entirely secure, and OSL cannot guarantee absolute security of information transmitted to or stored on the Platform or with its third-party service providers.

13. CHANGES TO THIS POLICY
OSL reserves the right to modify, amend, or update this Policy at any time and at its sole discretion, without prior notice. The "Last Updated" date at the top of this Policy shall indicate the date of the most recent revision. Continued use of the Platform following any such modification shall constitute acceptance of the Policy as so modified.

14. GOVERNING LAW AND JURISDICTION
This Policy shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of India. Any dispute, difference, or claim arising out of or in connection with this Policy shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts at Hyderabad, Telangana.
